London was excited to have a night to herself. She was taking some much needed ME time. She would see Chase on Saturday night, when she would have dinner with him at his friend Mason’s. All she wanted right now was to curl up with a good book on her couch and drink a glass of wine.

Unfortunately, her sister Bree had called her several times over the last week. She wanted to avoid Bree, so she’d ignored the calls. She knew that her sisters wanted to come for a visit to New Orleans in an effort to bond.

London knew her sisters genuinely cared about her well-being and wanted to bridge the gap between them since they hadn’t grown up together, but she wasn’t sure she could do it. She made the obligatory phone calls and sent the occasional texts to catch up on what was going on in their lives; but they weren’t her first call if something went down. Violet was. She was more of a sister than Jada and Bree had ever been.

But they were making an effort, so London supposed she should too.

After pouring herself a glass of wine in the kitchen, London went in search of her smartphone. She found it lying on the cocktail table. Tucking her feet underneath her, London hit the speed dial.

Bree answered on the third ring. “London, it’s so good to finally hear from you. You’re awfully hard to reach these days.”

“I’m sorry about that,” London apologized. “I’ve just been really busy with work and …” Her voice trailed off.

She could hear curiosity in Bree’s voice. “And what? What aren’t you telling me?”

“Nothing serious,” London replied, “or at least not yet.”

She sighed. “I’m sort of seeing someone.”

“Sort of?” Bree chuckled. “Does he know about it?”

London let out a hearty laugh. “Of course. It’s just that our relationship is still very new so I’m not ready to qualify it yet.”

“I can understand that. Will Jada and I get the chance to meet him when we come to visit you?”

London was silent for several moments. She wasn’t sure she was ready to share Chase with the world. On the other hand, he had met her grandparents. “Sure,” she finally responded. “It’ll be fun.”

“I’m so excited to meet him,” Bree said, “and to spend some quality time with you. You can show us around the Big Easy.”

“You’ve never been?”

“I came for a work trip once, but I’m afraid I didn’t have any time for sightseeing.”

That was her sister Bree. She was all work and no play. London wondered if she ever made time to have a social life. She supposed she would find out during their visit. “Then that means I’ll have to show you my city, because New York isn’t the only city that never sleeps. Wait until you experience Bourbon Street. It’s an experience like no other.”

“I can’t wait to taste your food at Shay’s,” Bree commented. “Daddy says it’s all the rage.”

“Is that right?” London had to admit she was surprised
